The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has removed two devices from the agency’s list of registered electronic logging devices (ELDs).
Both WALKER and SR electronic logging devices were placed on the Revoked Devices list due to failure to meet the minimum requirements established in Title 49 CFR Appendix A to Subpart B of Part 395. These requirements set the standard for electronic logging device functionality, including accurate hours of service, secure data storage, and the ability to transfer required data to enforcement personnel. Because these devices did not fully comply with these federal standards, they were deemed non-compliant and removed from the registered list.
The removals went into effect on July 31, 2025, for the following devices:
Motor carriers have up to 60 days to replace the revoked ELDs with compliant devices. FMCSA will notify via email, detailing the steps motor carriers must follow:
FMCSA encourages motor carriers to take immediate action to replace revoked devices. Waiting may result in compliance issues if not resolved by the ELD provider. If an ELD provider corrects all identified deficiencies, FMCSA may reinstate the device to the Registered Devices List.
Prior to September 29, 2025:
Before the September 29 deadline, safety officials are encouraged not to cite drivers using revoked ELDs for the following violations:
Instead, officials may request the driver’s paper logs, logging software, or use the ELD display as a backup method to review HOS data.
Enforcement after September 29, 2025:
Beginning September 29, 2025, motor carriers continuing to use revoked devices will be considered as operating without an ELD. Safety officials encountering these devices should:
